A couple of months ago, after finding it nigh on impossible to find anyone to plough money into the 5 times champions of Europe, being turned down by corrupt Asian governments, Cheese Slice Magnets (magnest don't stick to cheese - and it's the other craft family I know), and even Spion Kop season ticket holder Mr Morgan the Builder, he said that the World Club Championship would be a great marketing tool, spreading the word about RS, and helping them bring in funding.
He's now out in the far east, no doubt feeling a nice Khamsin blowing about his toes. He's now saying that this trip is nbot about money or finance. I can only assume one of two things have happened:-
The other directors have said 'You appear to be rivalling Oliver, with your begging bowl, asking "Please sir, can I have some more", so shut it now as you are embarassing us all'
He's realised that he's not going to make any money, because no one trust the management or board of directors, so he may as well stop pretending.
Anyway, looking at this competition - there's no one decent in it. When Manure were embarrassed in the competition a few years ago it was choc full of Brazillians and Argentine teams (wasn't it??), this looks like Liverpool's competition on a plate - and we know how much we are going to hate listening to them crow about winning it.
Get ready for a star studded parade around the city - best team in the world, second best team on Merseyside.
